San Juan Island
The heart of the San Juan Islands and the county seat, San Juan Island is the most populated of the islands, though only the 2nd largest. With roughly 8,000 year round residents and the only incorporated town in the archipelago, Friday Harbor, it is the hub of the San Juans. The historic Town of Friday Harbor, just one square mile in size and located on the East side of San Juan Island, is an idyllic seaport with the ferry landing and also the public marina within walking distance to all amenities. On the North side of San Juan Island sits the world famous Roche Harbor Resort and Marina with wonderful amenities including shops, restaurants, spas, moorage and an airstrip. The topography of San Juan Island is varied ranging from the prairie like vistas on the South end out to the high-bank and temperate rainforest-like West side where the whales play just off the shore. Boasting some of the best biking and hiking the San Juans have to offer, San Juan Island is the perfect mix of nature and beauty and amenities.
